Bakti Logam Sdn Bhd was established on 1st of March 2000 and it’s owned by a Malay man, Mr Bacho Sapaari. In this field, Bakti Logam had been known as “Bumiputera” company since it is owned by a Malay man. At that time, not many Malay people willing to do this business and most of the people who are involve and control this business generally is an Indian. Mr Bacho bin Sapaari saw this situation as an opportunity for him to get involve in this field by establishing his own company which is Bakti Logam Industri Sdn Bhd. Mr Bacho bin Sapaari is the main founder of Bakti Logam Industri Sdn Bhd and still holding his position as director from the early beginning of the company until now. Now, his daughter act as a second director and has supported him in managing the company.

Bakti Logam Industri Sdn Bhd involves in the process of collecting scrap commodities including metals, papers, plastics, glasses, rubbers, electronics, and also textiles in Keningau area.

Vision of the company is to become one of the organization that have a best source, dynamic and competitive together with the resolute and stable team. The company already set up their own mission in order for them to achieve their vision target which is by offering services of metal to recycling, reusing and reducing (3R) with innovative solutions, value added services for all. The point is, the companies is offering a variety of service toward their customer in order for them to be more competitive in the market. In addition, to maintain the reputation of the companies, all of the metal will be grading and sell it with a different price to ensure the best source is provided to the customer.

History of the company

Mr Bacho Sapaari was born on 1st April 1962. Previously he is a mechanic for almost 20 years before he decide to challenge himself by involving in the new scope of job which is as a businessman. He was only studying up till fourth grade due to poor families and because of that, he had to work since young to sustain his life and also his family. His career as the businessman start in 2000 when he decides to stop from his job as a mechanic and choose to divert into a recycling business since there is only one person who are running this business in Keningau. At that time, he was thinking that nothing is impossible for Malay man to succeed in this business even though this business mostly run by Indian and Chinese. Besides that, the other reason that courage him to involve in this business is by thinking that he can help in reducing the environment pollution such as greenhouse gas emissions by significantly saving the amount of energy needed to produce the new product and protecting our natural resources through the recycling business.

Historically, in 2000, he set up Bakti along with his best friend, Helmi Hausdin. However, his friend decided to leave the company after four years developing the company together. Mr Bacho has been managing his own company almost for 11 years and during year 2015, he decided to let his daughter to get involved directly and assisting him in developing business that already can be classified as family business. Now Bakti Logam Industries Sdn Bhd already achieve 15 years of their operation and now is owned and managed by Mr Bacho Sapaari and his daughter, Miss Nurafienna Bacho.

Starting with only three employees, the company now has been grown and already has 20 employees. The increasing number of employees is due to the increasing number of customers who come to sell their things such aluminums and scrapped iron to the company. The employees in this company include people from young to middle age. Most of the staffs are people who are age below than 30 years old such as 29 years old and so on. This company believes that age is not important things to be highlighted in deciding recruitment process. The most important criteria are willingness to work hard, loyalty and determination. They believe that if their employees have all of these attitudes, they will contribute to the success of this company. In Bakti Logam Industri Sdn Bhd, man dominates the number of employees. This is because the scope of job in this company can be classified as heavy duty. So that, man power are highly demanded in this company’s operation. During the initial stages of the establishment of this business, the company was only able to rent the premise and need to pay about RM 2,000 for rental purpose for every month. This situation continuously went of for almost six years. Then in 2010, the company has decided to buy a property as the business site to reduce its administrative costs and for the sake of business in future.

Back in 2007, Bakti also decide to join Sabah Scrap Metals Recycle Association. Sabah Scrap Metals Recycle Association is referring to an association that represent four organizations across Sabah scrap iron recycling sector.

Product and service

Bakti Logam Sdn. Bhd is a business that provides both which is product and service to their customer. Basically, the process of service is happen when the customer come to sell their scrap materials including metals, papers, plastics, glasses, rubbers, electronics, and also textiles to the company. Bakti Logam Sdn Bhd will paid based on the grade of the materials and followed by market price. However, if the company are receiving any illegal material such as robbed copper from  electrical wire and metal of road divider, they will definitely refuse to take that materials.
